{music} Weed Diggers

Dear groove gang: how is the new year rolling for all ya'll? Probably dandy. Especially considering the lovely fact that electro/disco titan John Digweed is gearing up to road-trip all over this fine country, bringing loud beats and good times to good people everywhere. This extra-special spring stint spans the majority of the month of March, and covers these key states: Texas, Missouri, Louisiana, and Tennessee. So start freeing up your schedule now, because nobody wants to hear any of your excuses later. Brought to you courtesy of the philanthropic folks over at Disco Productions, this 2007 Digweed live leg will likely rank high in his already-dense history of great gigs and life-affirming musical adventures. So get siked, get ready, spread the word, get tickets, mount up, roll out, and bring it in. Over and out, everybody.

Oh, the saga of Digweed. It's far too expansive to chart properly, but in bold strokes it goes like this: unlikely 15 year old acid house aficionado in Hastings, England starts deejaying in local clubs. Fast forward. Internationally renowned re-mixer of chart-toppers like New Order and Quincy Jones is voted number one DJ in the world by DJ Magazine in their 2001 poll. Between points A and B he launched a record label and a production company, traveled to play sets in six of the planet's seven continents (Antarctica's clubbing scene is still sparse), and won the acclaim and love of literally millions of fans. Wow.

And, of course, this is merely scratching the surface of Digweed's accomplishments. He's had tracks on smash movie soundtracks (Trainspotting), fully scored films (Stark Raving Mad), done some acting himself (Groove), and shared tours with some not-entirely-small musical artists such as Moby and Mr. David Bowie. But his endlessly inventive style and charismatic aura in performance continue to win him new accolades and unbelievable opportunities. And the dude deserves it. The least you could do is show up, listen to his music, party with tens of thousands of excited people, and be utterly amazed.
