LA Fashion Week’s Premier Street Fashion Event
Los Angeles, CA - The fifth edition of Los Angeles’ premier Street Fashion event promises to be the hottest yet, at its new location, the venerable Hollywood Athletic Club. The not-to-be-missed event Sew Down, will close out LA Fashion Week with a blend of cutting edge FASHION, mind-blowing ART and great MUSIC from the STREETS fusing together with LA’s grooviest crowd. Designer, trendsetter, events organizer and gal about town Atousa is also pleased to announce new sponsors for Sew Down as Urb Magazine and djunion.com come on board for the most exciting version of this acclaimed festival yet.
The LA Fashion Week edition of Sew Down will take place Sunday, November 7th, from 6:00pm – 2:00am at the Hollywood Athletic Club, 6525 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. Admission is $5 and this event will feature three full rooms with bars, music and fabulous clothes to buy at wholesale and sample sale prices! Thousands of LA’s hippest and grooviest fashionistas and music fans attended the previous events, and even more are expected at this expanded and revamped Sew Down.
The Los Angeles Times says: “It’s really the crest of the wave of music, and art and style. Sew Down, basically, is describing a subculture, something new that’s happening – so new, there’s not a label for it yet.” While The LA Weekly adds: “Whether your look is hip-hop hottie or rock & roll rouser, you can get outfitted for cheap by local lines at Sew Down.”
This edition of Sew Down will feature a runway fashion show and trade booths by: Nisa, Atousa G, Steelo, Dragonfly, Lychee Line, Hi-Roller, Chrome, House of Frog, Adriani ,Happy Campers, Michelle Marcombe, Chocho, Uccle Designs, In Full Bloom Designs and many others to be announced soon.
The main room will with the dance floor and 20 booths of cutting edge lines will feature DJs Bigga Bush from Rockers Hi Fi, and DJ Colette. The main stage where the 9:30 pm fashion show will be held is designed by top visual artist Vello Virkhaus of V2 Labs. Virkhouse has designed visuals for some of today’s top touring artists including Beyonce’, Sting, Bon Jovi and numerous top electronic artists and events. The “Library” and “Moroccan” rooms will featuring select designers, and will be complimented by the turntable stylings of a beat meisters DJ Sol, Scott K., Akiko, DJ Valdez, and Ben Jammin’.
California Apparel news calls Sew Down, “wild, elegant and playfully avant-garde.” While Noho LA gushed: “It felt like being in a futuristic rave mall where breakout fashions and political activism danced to great DJs. There were all kinds of performers like trapeze and performance artists plus tons of great clothing. The beats were non-stop and the styles were drop dead gorgeous at Sew Down.” And Campus Circle declares, “If you enjoy fashion, art and music, then this event will surely satisfy each and every one of your creative taste buds.” Event creator Atousa is so pleased with the growth of the event. “We knew it was a great concept when we started and after the first few events, we knew it was a great reality too.
