Mackie and Nolan have been friends for many years. This is their first joint show. "I have always wanted to work with John as our sense of colour is very similar. Without any hesitation, I knew he would always be my first choice for a joint show " says John Mackie. "Light and Colour" opens 2nd November and continues until 16th November. John Nolan has been a Premiere Portfolio Artist at absolutearts.com since 2001.

John Nolan was born in 1958, in Dublin, Ireland. His exuberant modern figurative style combines bold outlines with bright exotic colours. His interpretation of various motifs ( Fish, Landscape, Flowers, Birds,Human Figure,Still Life,Trees) transmits a positive upbeat feeling to his viewers. Along side this exploration John has been developing his abstract style, for many years.

In the abstract work he experiments with colour through gestural brushstrokes. There is no discernable subject matter, he has abandoned the motifs of his modern figurative work and focuses on pure colour and composition. Basically it is the artist, the canvas, the colour and the brush. His palette is still as vibrant as ever, using exuberant and exotic colours. He starts a painting with no definite preconceptions but simply an impulse, a subliminal thought about colour, space or form. He pushes beyond realism to build images that have power and urgency. It is a journey attempting to understand himself and existence, to give through his painting definition to the essence of being in the universe. His paintings are charged with masses of energy which cause the surface to move in vibrant harmony. Whatever inner pulse guides his work dictates his longing for colour and forms, and explores his imagination and inner experience. click here to view portfolio
