mondomedeusah creative arts group : Louis Cabri - the Transparency Machine. A reading and presentation by Louis Cabri @ Gallery 101.

Louis Cabri; B.A. (Carleton), M.A. (Calgary), Ph.D. (University of Pennsylvania), specializes in modernist, postmodernist, and contemporary American poetry and poetics, with secondary specializations in critical theory and Canadian and Québécois poetry and poetics. His areas of interest include poetry’s social address, poetic formal innovation, poetry in relation to theory, philosophy, and art, poetry movements/moments/institutions, and the Canada-USA-France-USSR poetic intertext. His recent essays and papers consider work by Bruce Andrews, Peter Inman, Frank O’Hara, Catriona Strang, Fred Wah, Pound, and Zukofsky, poetry’s “social command” propounded by Osip Brik and Vladimir Mayakovsky, and the literary nonce-word. Current projects include a study of Zukofsky and the Language Poets, a collection of essays on contemporary poetics, and anthologizing a poets-in-dialogue series he edited and curated (PhillyTalks, 1997-2001). Cabri's poetry book The Mood Embosser (Coach House Books) was acclaimed as a 2003 Book of the Year by the Small Press Traffic Literary Arts Center (San Francisco).

Traci Talasco

Traci Talasco // Detail of "Support System ", 2010 // 10 x 6 x 3 ft. // installation, red carpeting, architectural model parts, blue interior paint, moulding, chair rail.

"Throughout my art career I have created sculptures, installations, and video works. While the medium changes, there is a common theme dealing with romantic relationships, in a humorous way. As a wife and mother, I am navigating my way through the ups and downs of family life and have learned that things are not always as they appear. My personal experiences are the basis for my ideas.

Using home as a stage, the work focuses on communication issues between couples, societal expectations, and disappointments. The physical space of home, the objects we choose to decorate it, and the emotions we associate with it, all play a role. The work contains implied narratives that often straddle a line between humor and vulnerability. I frequently use construction materials and everyday objects such as plywood, carpeting, wallpaper, and coffee mugs. As part of my working process I either use writing as a springboard for my ideas, or I play with a material I am attracted to and work with its inherent associations."

Rosie Leventon (London)

Rosie Leventon // somewhere a door slammed.... 2009 - 10 // paperbacks // 182 x 147 x 150 cm

The books are paperbacks, mainly Romantic Novels that have titles like "Confessions of a Vicars Wife" and "Cold Heart Canyon". They have been formed brick-like into a rectangular tower which stands about 1.83 metres high. In it are regular shaped windows on 2 sides which allow a view into the interior. The titles of the books are visible on the outside of the walls, and looking through the windows people can see the pages of the books have been roughly carved - softened, so that they may look a bit like flat pieces of stone or an ancient ruin.

"Living in Central London as I do, we all live in or walk past huge tower blocks every day. But what do we know of the lives of all the people who live in the flats? Peoples lives in which so many major and minor events, joys and sorrows, are contained. References to archaeology and ancient cultures run right through my work, also looking through and behind the surface. I aim to provide a link between the present and contemporary life and the distant past."

BERLINER LISTE 2010
fair for contemporary art and photography // October 7, 2010 until October 10, 2010 @ the Münze Berlin

The BERLINER LISTE 2010 presents 111 exhibitors from 20 countries

Berlin will once again be the focus of the international art scene during this year’s art fair season. For years young artists of all genres have met there in search of new concepts and unconventional paths beyond the establishment and the global art market.

Once again this year the BERLINER LISTE sets the stage for exchange between artists, galleries, collectors and the public. The fair has provided a platform for new and innovative work ever since its foundation in 2004 by the Berlin art dealer Wolfram Völcker. With this concept, and since the success of its jubilee in 2008 with around fifteen thousand visitors, the BERLINER LISTE has become Berlin's second largest art fair after the Art Forum.

In addition to established and new galleries, this year project stands have also been awarded directly to international artists – allowing the latest developments in art to be experienced directly, unfiltered. Some of this year’s exhibitors – such as the 3 Punts Galeria, Galerie in Art and the ARTexhibitionLink Gallery UNO and others – exhibited successfully at last year’s BERLINER LISTE and wish to show their art to a broader audience again in 2010. The thomas punzman gallery will also participate again this year, showing among others the artist Nina Nolte, who creates pictures that originate from photographs and which address reality as a conceptual challenge. New this year is the exhibitor Youngha Ahn from Seoul in South Korea and the Galerie am Schloss, which presents contemporary sculpture by the artists W. Bonjisi and W. Tafiri, as well as abstract drawing and painting by the Swiss artist Christine Müller.

In total, 111 international exhibitors will present their latest and most innovative works of art this year on over 4000 square metres of exhibition space. Exhibitors from around the world have applied to take part in the BERLINER LISTE 2010. The BERLINER LISTE also includes exhibitors from countries such as Colombia, Russia, Romania, South Korea and Latvia. For the first time, three exhibitors will travel from Israel. 20 countries are represented this year, making the BERLINER LISTE 2010 more international than ever before.

pool gallery presents : "ICH WEISS DU HAST KEINE AHNUNG VON KUNST" new works by Ruby Anemic

Ruby Anemic_ICH-WEISS-DU-HAST-KEINE-AHNUNG-VON-KUNST

"ICH WEISS DU HAST KEINE AHNUNG VON KUNST" RUBY ANEMIC // vernissage October 5, 2010 18 h – 21 h // exhibition October 6, 2010 until November 13, 2010

Ruby Anemic was born and raised in Berlin. He approaches subjects, examines objects, and conjugates verbs with an attitude that has become his hallmark : candor with a twist of cynicism, veracity with a hint of sarcasm and a giddy mirth that makes one wonder exactly who is the butt of the joke. Often succumbing to his hyperactive mind's tangential forays, his ideas customarily prompt excursions into and appropriations from a wide-spanning assortment of media and a long-running history of art. His inherent eye for aesthetics and penchant for interdisciplinarianism encourage marked melanges of the creative fields, his sundry objets d‘art teetering amid brows both high and low.

ICH WEISS DU HAST KEINE AHNUNG VON KUNST is Ruby‘s third solo exhibition at Pool Gallery.
